Field day went super well! We all had a ton of fun and even though it was colder than last year it was great. Thanks to all the teachers and parents that helped out for field day.
Shout out to the PTA for the amazing lunch they had for the kids. They really enjoyed it and it was just a great way to end a long day of fun!

In the month of March is read across America day. So to honor this homework will be just reading. The students are expected to read about 3 books a week or about 12 books by the end of the month. If they read 20 or more books they will receive a prize at the end of the month.
Thank you to everyone that donated food or drink for the Valentine's Day party! We had a lot of fun passing out our Valentines and having a bunch of snacks.
Everyone enjoyed the festivities and we even got to watch a Math show to round out our day. Polar Express Day
On Thursday, December 22 Headstart, Pre-k, Kindergarten, First and Second Graders will be having our annual Polar Express Day. Students are allowed to wear their pajamas to school and bring a small stuffed animal and a towel or a small blanket. (That can fit in their book bag.) No slippers! We will enjoy some popcorn and watch The Polar Express in the afternoon. Don’t let the train pass you by. No zapatillas! This month we will be having our Pajama day on December the 22nd! Information will be coming about Pajama day closer to the date! Any questions see me. Mr. Red This coming Friday is Parent Teacher Conference day. If you have not already signed up please do. I will be sending out a paper on Monday with the available times. I hope to see you all that day!
Please if you haven't already done so sign your students permission slip for the Aquarium and send that in this week. If you don't want them to go please send me a note just so I know. All I need is the signed permission slip, the field trip was payed for the first time we signed up so there is no money needed this time. We will be going to the Aquarium next Monday! The students and I are so excited! Lastly keep working with your students on their Rainbow Words. They are really showing tremendous growth in their reading and known words! I hope to see you all on Friday! Have a great weekend! Today, sadly, was not a great field trip day. We all were ready and super excited to go but we found out after an lengthy wait (10:30 a.m.) that the buses were not coming. Due to this, we had to make a difficult choice in canceling the field trip for today..
Despite how today went, we are currently in the process of rescheduling this field trip for a date in the near future. I would like to thank all the parents who tried to come on this trip today and waiting with our students with us. Future field trips won't be anything like this and I thank you for spending your day with us and being so flexible. On a positive note, next Thursday we are going to go to Magruder park for Pumpkin Day! The permission slips will be coming home ASAP. We are looking for any parents that want to go on the field trip with us .For this one, there is no chaperone limit since we will be walking to the park, so all are welcome. If there is rain next Thursday we sadly wont be going to the park, but we are looking to continue the activities in the classroom. Thank you to all of the parents that joined us at Back to School night.
It was great getting to meet you all and telling you about what we will be doing in first grade this year. After it ended I decided that this website would work best if it was for both parents and students. So I have added the "Classroom Information" tab where you can find our homework calendar, newsletter, kindergarten sight words, and the current rainbow words that we are working on. It will be a work in progress getting everything up and running. But I will do my best. This week I will send home a chaperon sign up sheet for our first field trip on October 19th to the Baltimore Aquarium. We will be limited to 3 or 4 chaperons for this trip because of limited seating on the buses. Chaperoning will be on a first come first serve basis. Secondly if you are chaperoning a field trip please do not bring any other children other then you first grade student, it is a Prince Georges County Public School's Rule. Lastly if your child receives free and reduced lunches you can have the fingerprinting wavered by taking a copy of your free and reduced confirmation form to Upper Marlboro. |
